Jan. 30

Domestic violence: Leighland D. Johnson of Parkcliffe Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged that as she drove in the 5700 block of Market Street, Johnson punched her face during an argument about their relationship, then choked the accuser after she pulled into a nearby parking lot.

Criminal mischief: An East Parkside Drive woman told police someone has continually been removing a bulb from her security light.

Menacing: A Market Street man said his former girlfriend has made threatening calls to him.

Stolen property: Authorities investigated possible drug activity in the 1400 block of Boardman-Poland Road, where they arrested 33-year-old Jonathan J. Curley of Pittsburgh on two felony counts of receiving stolen property after saying the truck he was driving and a license plate on it had been reported stolen. Curley also was wanted on a felony theft warrant from Shaler Township, Pa.

Theft: Margaret Acevedo, 48, of Hilton Avenue, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of $343 worth of merchandise from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive. Charged with complicity was 19-year-old Amanda N. Sanchez of East Judson Avenue, Youngstown.

Bad check/fraud: A Creston Drive woman who had placed an ad online to sell furniture told authorities a Greenville, N.C., woman sent her a $1,826 check that was returned for nonsufficient funds. Also, the local woman reported finding nine fraudulent charges made to her account.

Jan. 31

Theft: Artis L. Walton, 54, of East Midlothian Boulevard, Youngstown, was charged with stealing chicken wings and two other food items from Modarelli’s Sparkle Market, 4121 South Ave.

Stolen property: An officer conducting a security check at Paul C. Bunn Elementary School, 1825 Sequoya Drive, discovered that a nearby 1998 Acura vehicle had been stolen Jan. 27 in Youngstown.

Theft: Two pairs of boots were stolen from Payless Shoesource, 48 Boardman-Poland Road.

Drugs: Capricia B. Williams, 29, of Wakefield Avenue, Youngstown, faced one felony and misdemeanor count each of possession of drugs when, police said, a plastic bag containing 52 Oxycodone tablets and a pill bottle that had its label scratched off were found during a traffic stop on South Avenue.

Theft: A man reported a Kindle device and a cellphone charger stolen from his home in the 50 block of Clifton Drive.

Domestic violence: Thomas R. Torrance, 33, of Ashtabula, was arrested in Ashtabula County on a domestic-violence warrant after a Pittsburgh woman alleged that during a custody exchange of their child in the 6900 block of South Avenue, Torrance had pushed the accuser and deliberately closed a vehicle door on her right arm and shoulder, causing redness and pain.

Attempted theft: Two males age 17 to 20 tried to steal three pieces of merchandise from Family Dollar, 4026 South Ave.

Theft: A woman age 20 to 25 took a DVD player and two other items from Walgreens Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd., before leaving in a vehicle with a Montana registration.

Theft: Police arrested Mary K. Mirich, 39, of Market Street, Boardman, in the 7100 block of Market. She was wanted on a Struthers warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.

Feb. 1

Citation: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 resulted in a citation charging Lauren N. Trittschuh, who listed addresses on Bonnie Place and Lynhaven Road, Youngstown, with operating a vehicle impaired and marijuana possession.

Arrest: Police near Midlothian Boulevard pulled over and took into custody Jeremy A. Duncan, 36, on a warrant from Mercer County, Pa. Duncan, of Howland-Wilson Road Northeast, Howland, also was given a minor-misdemeanor citation charging him with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Criminal damaging: Police received several complaints of vehicle damage in the 700 block of Annawan Lane. The cars had been scratched and spray-painted, a report showed.

Arrest: Canfield authorities handed to township police 20-year-old Jourdan D. Mink of West Boulevard, Boardman, who was wanted on charges of receiving stolen property, forgery and passing a bad check. Mink was accused in a March 2013 incident in which a Lynn Mar Avenue woman discovered at least seven checks missing, along with roughly $2,700 from a safe, after a burglary.

Felonious assault: John W. Beitzel, 41, of Argyle Avenue, Boardman, faced a felonious-assault charge after a tenant alleged Beitzel, his landlord, had pulled a knife and severely beat up the accuser. Both were highly intoxicated, a report said.

Arrest: Police arrested Dominic J. Peel III, 31, of Becky Court, Boardman, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired after officers pulled him over near Route 224.

Feb. 2

Theft: Police booked 21-year-old Lucia M. Petrus after alleging Petrus, of Cover Drive, Poland, had stolen five food items from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 5200 block of Southern Boulevard led to the arrests of JaKwan L. Rudolph, 20, of Southern Boulevard, Boardman, and 37-year-old Ayana J. Rudolph, same address. Both were wanted on Youngstown warrants charging failure to appear in court.

Burglary: To a residence in the 50 block of Shields Road when a rear door was forced open. A computer, jewelry, a DVD player and a 32-inch TV were taken.

Theft: A man left Quaker Steak and Lube, 435 Boardman-Poland Road, without paying his $31.57 bill.

Assault: A Glenwood Avenue woman alleged another woman shoved her while they were at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood.

Theft: Alfreda A. Bailey of West LaClede Avenue, Youngstown, faced a theft charge. The 57-year-old Bailey was accused of stealing a set of curtains and three other items from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: Police charged 33-year-old Robert L. Byrd Jr. of Harker Avenue, East Liverpool, with violating a protection order after a woman alleged Byrd had intentionally sat at a table next to her and her children at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant, in violation of the order.

Feb. 3

Harassment: A Sugartree Drive man reported having received a death threat via Facebook.

Feb. 6

Citation: Police received information about a possibly impaired driver on Market Street before they cited 28-year-old James B. Ruozzo of Ridgeway Street, Struthers, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Criminal damaging: A Southern Boulevard woman alleged her former boyfriend, 30, struck, dented and scratched her apartment door in an effort to be let in.

Theft: Police at Boardman Area Court took custody of, then booked 31-year-old Erin R. Hallas of Gladstone Avenue, Campbell, on a theft charge. She was accused of stealing two pairs of boots Jan. 31 from Payless Shoesource, 48 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Eighty Percocet pills were removed from a home in the 1900 block of Palo Verde Drive.

Burglary/arson: Police assisted Poland Township firefighters battling a blaze at a vacant residence in the 7300 block of Yellow Creek Drive, where a rear door had been damaged and a debris pile was found under the basement steps. The Boardman Fire Department also was investigating.

Theft/criminal damaging: A New Castle, Pa., woman in the 800 block of Boardman-Poland Road returned to a broken car window, then noticed her purse and checkbook missing.

Employee theft: Christian D. Davis of West Midlothian Boulevard, Youngstown, faced a theft charge after a manager with Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, alleged the 19-year-old Davis stole a $79 iPhone case while at work. Davis also admitted having stolen additional items, a police report said.

Theft: A man and a woman in their late 20s stole undergarments and other merchandise from Dollar General, 859 E. Midlothian Blvd.

Feb. 7

Assault: A Youngstown woman reported a man with whom she was on a date grabbed her neck and forced it toward his groin area as he drove a silver Chevrolet Impala near Overhill and Brookwood roads. She woman jumped from the vehicle before the man fled, a report showed.

Citation: George T. Hance, 41, of Stadler Drive, Boardman, was cited on charges of operating a vehicle impaired and driving under suspension after authorities pulled him over on South Avenue.

Criminal damaging and mischief: A Mathews Road man noticed someone had deliberately loosened his car’s lug nuts and damaged his screen door.

Harassment: The boyfriend of a former employee of a South Avenue long-term nursing home reportedly made several such calls to the facility.

Burglary: A Willow Drive woman alleged her landlord forcibly entered her residence through the front door and demanded her rent money, then threatened her and another person.

Theft: Treyvonne V. Dill, 19, of Ferndale Avenue, Youngstown, was handed a summons charging him with stealing a printed T-shirt and a pair of jeans from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.

Arrest: A traffic stop in the 4200 block of Southern Boulevard resulted in the arrest of 27-year-old James J. Sheets of Southern Boulevard, Youngstown. He was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.

Feb. 8

Theft: Michael J. Lowery, 30, was charged with one count of theft. Lowery, of Miller Road, Warren, was accused of taking a jacket and a pair of jogging pants from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 5000 block of Youngstown-Poland Road was found with a shattered rear window. The damage came to $700.

Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown boy was charged after two cell phone chargers and a USB cable were taken from Walmart.

Drugs: A suspicious vehicle on Washington Boulevard caught officers’ attention before they charged 25-year-old Chelsea R. Faloba with possession of drug-abuse instruments. Faloba, of Lisbon Road, Leetonia, had two needles with suspected drug residue, police said.

Assault: Nathaneal A. Bibb, 31, of Wakefield Avenue, Youngstown, faced a simple-assault charge after a manager with Inner Circle Pizza, 1816 Boardman-Poland Road, alleged Bibb pushed him into a wall after having become angered about his meal and the service. The accuser suffered a dislocated or broken finger in the fight, a report showed.

Theft: Two 14-year-old Youngstown girls were charged in the theft of $213 worth of merchandise, including a women’s shirt and pair of jeans, from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A $500 iPhone was removed from an apartment in the 7300 block of West Boulevard.

Theft of services: The driver of a yellow Chevrolet Cavalier left the Shops at Boardman Park on U.S. Route 224 without paying a $75 towing bill.

Menacing: A Glenwood Avenue man said his former girlfriend sat in her car outside of his home, then followed him as he drove to Youngstown.

Theft: A couple left Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant, 685 Boardman-Canfield Road, and failed to pay their $61.67 food bill.

Feb. 9

Criminal damaging: Authorities responded to a vehicular accident near U.S. Route 224 and Interstate 680, where they took into custody 18-year-old Curtis A. Moses of Homestead Drive, Boardman, on a warrant charging criminal damaging. Moses was one of several people who poured lotion on a car, in the 1300 block of Doral Drive, and used a key to damage its finish, a report showed.

Theft: Audrey M. Dougherty, 19, of Cambridge Avenue, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of nine DVDs valued at $425 from Walmart.

Domestic violence: Donald E. Hill, 61, of Glen Park Drive, Boardman, was charged with making domestic-violence threats after his wife alleged that during an argument, Hill had threatened to kill himself or her with a knife.

Domestic violence: Qader A. Albrezat, 26, of Southwoods Drive, Boardman, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged an enraged Albrezat, during an argument, pushed her to the ground and repeatedly punched her face. The accuser had severe swelling to her face as well as dried blood on her lips and cheek, police said.

Theft: Melissa A. Waldron, 34, of South Street, Warren, was charged after a worker for a Southern Park Mall jewelry business discovered money missing from her purse.

Theft/criminal damaging: Three hundred compact discs and a wallet were taken from a car in the 4000 block of Hillman Way after a window had been smashed.

Attempted burglary: Someone cut a front-window screen in an effort to enter a residence in the 6300 block of Tara Drive.

Theft: A $100 suitcase was removed from a vehicle in the 400 block of Boardman-Poland Road.
