Vista Center adult day services opens in Lisbon
LISBON
The new Adult Day Services at Vista Center in Lisbon had a ribbon-cutting and open house Wednesday to celebrate opening of the new facility at 100 Vista Drive.
Lauren Bako, facility administrator, said the Vista Center is offering special pricing for those who sign up for the program by the end of February.
The Lisbon Vista Center features a newly remodeled area for activities, socialization and dining.
Lisa Willis, director of nursing, and Tracy D’Andrea, chief operating officer for Vista Care Centers, joined Bako at the ceremony.
Adult-day services are designed for seniors who would benefit from social interaction and who also may need supervision or assistance with activities during the day while caregivers work or attend to other duties, Bako said.
The service is supervised by a nurse who also provides routine wellness checks for participants. In addition to the services of trained professionals, the center offers breakfast and lunch to participants and daily social events and activities. Ancillary services and therapies also are available, she said.
The facility, which can accommodate 15 to 20 clients, is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and staffed by a licensed practical nurse, state-tested nurses aides and an activities director. It is in a space attached to the Lisbon Vista Center nursing home.
Bako, a licensed nursing-home administrator with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition from Youngstown State University, said Vista Center has to operate 90 days with at least two clients in order to be PASSPORT certified.
PASSPORT is a Medicaid-waiver program that provides services in home and community settings to preserve the independence of individuals and delay or prevent nursing-facility placement for income-eligible people 60 and older.
The cost of services may not exceed 60 percent of the cost of nursing-home care, according to the Ohio Department of Aging. County Job and Family Services departments determine financial eligibility.
