POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent police activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

Feb. 6

Threats: A West Park Avenue man said another man had threatened him.

Menacing: A West Park Avenue man told police a caller threatened to beat him up.

Feb. 7

Recovered property: A $200 cellphone was found in a parking lot in the 100 block of Orchard Avenue.

Feb. 8

Arrest: A traffic stop on East Liberty Street resulted in 35-year-old Randall E. Poindexter Jr.’s arrest. Poindexter, of First Street, Masury, was wanted on a Warren Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Arrest: Campbell police handed to Hubbard authorities Walter J. Burroughs, 59, of North Truesdale Avenue, Youngstown. He was wanted on a warrant.

Feb. 10

Theft: A Masury woman reported several firearms missing from a Youngstown-Hubbard Road garage where they had been stored.

LIBERTY

Feb. 6

Harassment: A Homestead Avenue woman reported having received the latest in a series of such calls that apparently are part of a 10-month pattern of harassment.

Aggravated menacing: Brookfield authorities handed to township police 52-year-old Timothy J. Curtis of State Road Northwest, Warren, who was charged with aggravated menacing and telephone harassment.

Harassment: A Euclid Boulevard woman reported getting an increase in nuisance and threatening calls.

Burglary: To a home in the 500 block of Murray Hill Drive through a rear door. Among items stolen were a laptop computer and a firearm, for an estimated loss of $1,350.

Arrest: Jonathan R. Sterling, 18, of North Truesdale Avenue, Youngstown, was taken into custody at the Mahoning County jail on a Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Feb. 7

Arrest: Youngstown police in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue handed 35-year-old Summer E. Alderman to township authorities. Alderman, of Willow Crest Avenue, Liberty, was wanted on an outstanding Girard Municipal Court warrant.

Arrest: A traffic stop on Gypsy Lane resulted in the arrest of Pierson J. Haywood of Cordova Avenue, Youngstown. The 27-year-old Haywood was wanted on a Weathersfield Township warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Domestic violence: A charge was pending against a 21-year-old Youngstown man after a Holly Drive woman alleged he had struck her several times in the head with his hands and a lamp, then pushed her into a bathtub during an altercation.

Assault: A Keefer Road girl alleged her boyfriend, 16, kicked her stomach during an argument in the 100 block of Trumbull Avenue. A doctor determined the girl had no serious injuries, a police report stated.

Criminal damaging: A garage window was damaged in the 1000 block of Colonial Drive.

Arrest: Authorities were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail, where they booked 80-year-old Isaac A. Box of Mabel Street, Youngstown, on an outstanding township warrant.

Feb. 8

Theft: A man reported a .25-caliber semiautomatic handgun missing from his residence in the 1100 block of Church Hill-Hubbard Road.

Harassment: A Pinecrest Road man said a 37-year-old New Middletown man has made a series of unwanted calls to him.

Feb. 9

Domestic violence: Cain A. Macgregor, 24, of Laurel Street, Liberty, was charged with the crime after his wife alleged Macgregor had struck her head during an argument about a text message on her phone. The accuser suffered minor injuries.

GIRARD

Feb. 8

Criminal mischief: An Indiana Avenue woman alleged her former boyfriend kicked and damaged her front door while demanding she let him in. The damage came to $300.

Feb. 9

Misuse of a credit card: A West Liberty Street woman discovered a debit card she lost at a U.S. Route 422 gas station was used to make a total of $550 worth of unauthorized charges at several locations.

Harassment: A North Highland Avenue woman said her former husband has sent and made such text messages and calls to her.

Feb. 10

Theft: Jesse McQueen, 59, of Spruce Street, Youngstown, was charged with taking $17 worth of candy from Santisi’s IGA Super Center, 419 N. State St.
