Mahoning/Trumbull transportation grant provides service to elderly, disabled

YOUNGSTOWN

Eastgate Regional Council of Governments is announcing a Fiscal Year 2014 Specialized Transportation Grant Program for agencies in Trumbull and Mahoning counties.

The program provides funds to assist organizations in providing transportation services to meet the special needs of elderly people and people with disabilities.

Under this federally funded program, the grants pay for 80 percent of the approved items with each agency responsible for providing a 20 percent local share.

Applicants in both counties are required to submit a letter of intent to Eastgate on or before Wednesday to determine project eligibility. Those determined to be eligible will receive an invitation to apply and are required to attend the STP grant workshop next Friday.
