BOARDMAN
Boardman police charged a 22-year-old woman with abusing harmful intoxicants after she admitted to “huffing” while driving.
Megan Ortenzio of Applewood Boulevard will appear in Boardman court at 5:30 p.m. today.
She was also given a misdemeanor citation for possession of drugs and cited for failure to control and operating a vehicle while impaired.
Police reported to a one-car accident on Southern Boulevard just after 5 p.m. Wednesday. The Ford Focus went off of the road and into a ditch, according to a police report. Ortenzio told police she was southbound on Southern Boulevard when she
lost consciousness and wrecked the car.
She said, “to be honest, officer, I was huffing a duster can.” Police said she appeared to have watery eyes, stuttered and was confused. Police located a green leafy substance in her vehicle, expected to be marijuana.
The vehicle was towed. The suspected marijuana and dust can were taken into evidence and Ortenzio’s blood was tested.
