Ohio couple weds in room where son treated for cancer

AKRON, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio couple who married on Christmas Day decided to share their vows where they’ve been spending a lot of time recently: the hospital room where their 4-year-old son, Billy, is being treated for cancer.

Sarah Lewis, 27, and William Cramer, 28, of Mogadore in suburban Akron say they made other wedding plans over the years that fell through.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports the timing then worked out for Thursday’s wedding at Akron Children’s Hospital with family in town and Cramer’s uncle available as a minister.

Hospital workers prepared quickly for the wedding, and relatives including the couple’s other children, 2-year-old Mason and 1-year-old Delaney, jingled bells from the back of the room.

Doctors say Billy appears to be beating his neuroblastoma cancer.
