A man who was accused of being in a West Side street gang and taking part in other criminal activities as a member of the gang pleaded guilty to several charges Friday.

Tyrone Gordon, 20, of North Brockway Avenue, entered guilty pleas in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to charges of trafficking in cocaine, trafficking in counterfeit controlled substances, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, possession of heroin and participating in a criminal gang.

The plea bargain calls for a sentence of six years. A sentencing date before Judge Lou D’Apolito has not been set.

Gordon was one of 12 people indicted in May for belonging to the E Block Street gang, which held sway in the Evanston Avenue area on the lower West Side, including Lakeview and Portland avenues.

Gordon is one of four gang members who faced extra charges for the robbery and beating of a man outside a Mahoning Avenue bar in September 2013. The man was on a bicycle and was beaten and robbed because he was supposed to be an informer, prosecutors have said.

Police and prosecutors said the indictments came after an investigation that was launched after complaints and tips from residents in the area.

Of the 12 who were indicted, only two cases still are pending. Those cases are expected to be handled early next month.
