WARREN

It took three months, but the work and investment by Warren businessman Bill Casey and his wife, Jan, in a home on Vine Street Northeast has paid off with the home being purchased.

The closing took place Monday on two young women’s purchase of the home at 453 Vine for the amount of money the Caseys invested — $25,000.

Matt Martin, executive director of the nonprofit Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership, which took ownership of the property through the foreclosure process and with the help of the Trumbull County Land Bank, said the sale is a milestone in the effort to repopulate the area north of downtown known as the Garden District.

The Caseys, owners of Warren Paint and Glass, donated the $25,000 they invested in the Adopt-a-Home program and vowed that they would put their investment back into the Garden District after the house was purchased.

The $25,000 will be combined with an additional $20,000 in donations to renovate another home in the neighborhood, Martin said. The home will be chosen for renovation soon, he said.

The women bought the home to live there, Martin said, adding that program requirements say the women must live in the home at least three years before they can sell it.

“Buying this house was an easy choice for us, with all of the improvements being taken care of,” said Amy Bell, one of the two women.

“I am excited to move into the neighborhood and be a part of something more than just buying a home,” said the other woman, Amanda Palmore. “We are able to grow with the Garden District and bring life back into the area,” she said.
