PEACE LIGHT Available to the public

Saturday, December 13, 2014

The Peace Light comes from the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where 15 oil lamps have burned continuously for more than 1,000 years. The Peace Light from Bethlehem campaign originally was organized by the Austrian Broadcasting Company and was part of a large charitable relief mission, Light into Darkness, for children in need in Austria and abroad. Austrian Boy Scouts and Girl Guides distribute the Peace Light.

In Warren: The Peace Light flame arrived Friday at Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America headquarters, 4930 Enterprise Blvd., NW, Warren. It will be available to the public until noon Dec. 23. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Candles or lanterns are good tools to take home, but are not provided. For information, call the Greater Western Reserve Council office at 330-898-8474 or email gwrc@bsa-gwrc.org.

In Youngstown: JMJ Spiritual Connection II, 3408 Canfield Road, Youngstown, will host the Peace Light for distribution from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Dec. 24. The store has transport items available for sale.
