CLUBS

Newcomers Group of Mahoning Valley will have a holiday celebration on Wednesday at Caffe Capri in Boardman. There will be door prizes, games and songs of the season. Poland Women’s Club will meet Tuesday for its annual Christmas party social starting at 11:30 a.m., with lunch served at 12:15 p.m., at Tippecanoe Country Club. Cost is $25 per person, and there will be a cash bar. Guests are welcome. Take a wrapped gift of $15 to $20 value for an exchange.

Youngstown Chapter of International Torch Clubs will have a dinner-discussion meeting at 6 p.m. Monday. Dr. Lowell Satre, Youngstown State University professor emeritus of history, and his wife, Ellen, will discuss a recent bicycle tour of their ancestral homeland in Scandinavia. The meeting will be in Kilcawley Center, Bresnahan Rooms I & II, on the campus of YSU. The public is invited. A social hour begins at 5:30, followed by dinner at 6 and the lecture at 7. GROUPS

That Quilt Group I Belong To will have its December meeting and holiday dinner party Tuesday at the Fair Park Rotary Building in Canfield. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and catered dinner will begin at 6:30. Entertainment will be provided by Eddie Durkin. Contact Mary Durkin for reservations at 330-533-2375. Those who wish to participate in a gift exchange are asked to take a $15 sewing-related gift. The annual quilt raffle drawing will take place, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Silver Lining Fund. Guests are asked to take coloring books and crayons to donate to Akron Children’s Hospital. The group is open to all quilters in the Mahoning Valley, including all skill levels. GUILDS

Holborn Herb Growers Guild will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Lariccia Family Center Rotary Room in Boardman Park for a Christmas celebration and catered dinner. Installation of officers will take place, and there will be a $15 gift exchange for those who wish to participate.

McDonald Literary Guild will meet at 8 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Park United Methodist Church.

LIBRARY FRIENDS

Friends of the Boardman Library will have a Christmas lunch at noon Monday at A La Cart Catering in Canfield. Entertainment will be provided by the Mahoning Valley Chorale under the direction of Kris Harper. Members continue to collect donations of books, magazines, CDs, and DVDs on the first and third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to noon.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

St. Rose Quilting Group will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the parish house.

SERVICE CLUBS

Girard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Golf Dome, 1300 N. State St., Girard.

McDonald Lions Club will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday on the second floor of the Retirement Center, 550 Ohio Ave.

Kiwanis Club of Western Mahoning County will have Santa Claus at Farmers National Bank, 20 S. Broad St., Canfield, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Dec. 20th. Pictures will be taken with Santa.

SINGLES

D.A.R.E. Singles Group, which meets at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, has planned the following: Wednesday, walking at Southern Park Mall, meet at the food court, 6:30 p.m.; Thursday, gift exchange night at the church, $10 limit, 7:30 p.m.; Dec. 19, card night at Denny’s on Route 224, 6 to 10 p.m.

SOCIETIES

Poland Historical Society will meet to celebrate the season at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Red Brick School House. There will be a brief meeting followed by the party. The society will provide sandwiches and beverages, and all others are asked to take a casserole or dessert to share. Volunteers are needed for cleanup after the party. Alzheimer Network Family Support Group will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St., Girard; at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lakes, St. Catherine Family Center, 11254 Grandview Road, Lake Milton; and at 10 a.m. Dec. 19 at Canfield Christian Church, 123 S.
