Today’s entertainment picks:

v Rod Stewart, 8 p.m.: The classic rock legend plays at Covelli Centre in downtown Youngstown. Tickets might be scarce — check ticketmaster.com.

v Polish Day, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.: The food, music and heritage of Poland will be everywhere at this festival at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, Austintown; polish-youngstown.org.

v Ballyhoo Music Festival, 1-9 p.m.: Day two of this event will feature Bootsy Collins at 6 p.m., plus Mpress (featuring Billy Beck) and Geo C and Tha Storm. It’s at Harley-Davidson Biketown, off state Route 46 near the I-80 interchange, in Austintown; ballyhoomusicfestival.com.

“Wipeout” (8 p.m., ABC): I’m not sure you want to label one of your obstacles the Virus Patrol with the whole Ebola thing, but that’s just me.

“Masterpiece Mystery” (9 p.m., PBS): “Smash” and “Downton Abbey” stars unite to tell a story of career and sexual intrigue set in a 1961 London hospital.

“True Blood” (9 p.m., HBO): Will it be a fang-tastic finish for “True Blood”? After seven seasons of sex, gore and stranger than strange shenanigans, we bid farewell to Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and the beleaguered residents of Bon Temps.

“The MTV Music Video Awards” (9 p.m., MTV): The “MTV Music Video Awards” are typically must-see TV. Among the highlights: Beyonce is scheduled to perform and receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Lo Monaco in Ford Hall concert

YOUNGSTOWN

Italian-born singer Maurice Lo Monaco will perform a concert at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at Ford Family Recital Hall, 260 W. Federal St., downtown. The performance is being presented by the Italian Scholarship League.

Born in Palermo, Sicily, LoMonaco immigrated to America as a child, celebrating his 10th birthday aboard a ship in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. On that ship, Maurizio Lo Monaco made his first public appearance.

Lo Monaco is a classically influenced singer/songwriter and a lyrical tenor with an expansive repertoire in five languages.
