YOUNGSTOWN

A screenplay written by Mike Forney of Youngstown will be staged and filmed in hopes of getting it on television.

Titled “UnOrd’n NearMe People,” the comedy will be performed at Powers Auditorium, 260 W. Federal St., at 7 p.m. Aug. 30 and 31.

Forney considers the play a pilot for a television sitcom. He said he will submit it to cable channels and to Tyler Perry Productions.

Forney has written, directed and produced several plays in the Mahoning Valley.

His new play is based on his prior plays that consist of unordinary people who have hilariously awkward personalities. The characters are homeless and share unusual stories and situations that are very real in their own world.

Tickets for the performance can be purchased in advance for $25 at RBG’s Eatery in Warren, Ryan’s Chair in Youngstown, and at the Powers box office. Tickets will also be sold at the door for $35.
