MERCER
A dozen or so fire departments responded to a large gas-well explosion and fire on Pew Road just northwest of Mercer,Pa.
It began at 8:06 tonight and was under control by about 9:15 p.m. No injuries were reported.
Mercer County 911 reported that it began with two explosions and led to a fire. The well is just west of the Mercer Public Golf Course on state Route 58.
A couple rural roads nearby were closed while fire personnel attacked the blaze, but there was no evacuation.
