Event will feature jazz music and wine

LAKE MILTON

The Lake Milton Nature Arts Council, in collaboration with the Dana School of Music, will present YSU Jazz & Wine Under the Stars this Saturday at the Lake Milton State Park Amphitheater, Craig Beach.

Gates open at 6:30 p.m., with music from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

The program, titled “Old Wine — New Bottles,” will highlight the bebop and swing compositions of Clevelander Tadd Dameron, based on his favorite standards. Youngstown State University faculty and alumni musicians, including Kent Engelhardt, Glenn Schaft, Shawn Marko and Alton Merrell, will perform.

The Youngstown Jazz Collective Swing Band will follow, featuring swing era music from Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Glen Miller and more. The band consists of students in the YSU jazz program.

Wines by Barrel Run Winery, Mastropietro Winery and Myrddin Winery will be available all evening. Food items will also be available for purchase. Outside food and beverages are not permitted but attendees may bring chairs or blankets for seating.

Advance tickets are for sale at Lake Milton Pharmacy for $10. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $12. Reserved seating with candlelight and tablecloths is available for an additional cost.
