Whispering Pines District, Greater Western Reserve Council, Boy Scouts of America, is sponsoring its 9th annual Friends of Scouting breakfast fundraiser at 7:15 a.m. June 3 at Camp Stambaugh, 3712 Leffingwell Road. Scouts will share lessons and life-skills they have learned.

People movers will transport attendees through the camp.

For reservations, sponsorships or donations make checks payable to Greater Western Reserve Council-BSA and mail to: Greater Western Reserve Council, Attn. WP FOS Breakfast, 4930 Enterprise Blvd. NW, Warren, OH 44481.

Sponsorships are available at multiple levels and include:

Eagle, $4,800 and sponsor 32 Scouts for one year of Scouting;

Tenderfoot, $2,400 and sponsor 16 Scouts for one year;

Webelos, $1,200 and sponsor eight Scouts for one year;

and Tiger Cub, $600 and sponsor four Scouts for one year.

The deadline to have your sponsorship donation placed in this year’s program is May 11.

A contribution of $25 will memorialize loved ones connected to Scouting. This gift will be placed in the endowment fund, and a card with their name will be placed on a special table at the breakfast.

This year Robert Zedaker, John Wolboldt and George Grim will be honored for their service to Scouting. Their combined service equals more than 150 years.

Master of ceremonies will be Stacia Erdos from The Business Journal. Guest speakers will be Eagle Scout Alec Ball from Troop 44 in Poland, son of Kevin and Shari Ball; and Jason Wolf, Scout executive of Greater Western Reserve Council, who will give the state of Scouting report.

This year marks the 95th anniversary of Stambaugh Scout Reservation, which includes Camp Stambaugh, Camp Akela and the Scouting Museum of the Greater Western Reserve Council. The museum will be open for tours after the breakfast.

Holly Baker is chairwoman of the event, and the steering committee members are John Barkett; Joe Buchanan; Cockrell; Gwen Smith-Darnell; David Deibel; Michele and Paul Johnson; Jason Hays; Kurt Hilderbrand; Michael Kupec; Benjamin Kyle; Bill Moss; Sharlene and Rory Phelan; John Schlobohm, assistant Scout executive of GWRC; Joe Verostko, Jonathan Weymer; and John Yerian.

Whispering Pines District, Greater Western Reserve Boy Scout Council membership totals 1,215 youths in 42 units led by 536 adult volunteers.
