UPDATE: Tressel, 2 others named as finalists for YSU prez

YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown State University Presidential Search Advisory Committee has identified these three finalists for the position. They are:

• Mary Cullinan, president and professor of English, Southern Oregon University.

• Gary L. Miller, chancellor, University of North Carolina Wilmington.

• James P. Tressel, executive vice president for Student Success, University of Akron.

The three finalists will visit campus the week of May 5 for interviews and open forums.

"We believe we have a highly qualified group of final candidates, and we look forward to them traveling to Youngstown, visiting our campus and meeting the people of the university and the community," said Sudershan K. Garg, chair of the YSU Board of Trustees.

In all, 37 individuals applied for the position. The Search Committee, comprised of nine members of the YSU Board of Trustees and two student members, interviewed six candidates Friday and Saturday via video-conferencing.
