“Veep” (10:30 P.M., HBO): On “Veep,” Selina (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) makes a fundraising trip to Silicon Valley, where she has a confrontation with an anti-fracking activist. Unfortunately, a video of the encounter goes viral.

“LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER” (11 p.m., HBO): For seven years, he provoked big laughs as “senior British correspondent” on “The Daily Show.” And then he won raves when he successfully filled in for Jon Stewart last summer. Now, the sharp-witted Oliver finally gets his own piece of television real estate with this irreverent and satirical weekly news program. Expect offbeat interviews and commentary, some pretaped segments and lots of unbridled hilarity.
