YOUNGSTOWN

City police and U.S. marshals working the Violence Interruption Patrols this week teamed up with a pair of New York City police detectives to arrest a robbery suspect.

Officers found 22-year-old Ryan Moore of New York City in a South Side home about 11 a.m. Wednesday in the first block of East Auburndale Avenue.

Capt. Jason Simon of the city police department said Moore was found hiding in a closet in a back bedroom. He is in the Mahoning County jail and awaiting extradition to New York.

Simon said two detectives from the New York Police Department joined marshals and city police in looking for Moore. Simon said the New York detectives had information that Moore was in the city, but he did not know why Moore was here.

“They had intelligence that he was here,” Simon said.

Simon said they searched other places, all on the South Side, for Moore before finding him.

“We looked around at several address and found him there [on East Auburndale Avenue],” Simon said.

Moore was taken into custody without any trouble, Simon said.

Moore was wanted on the New York state equivalent of aggravated robbery for a series of five robberies of delivery drivers this year, Simon said. He said the drivers often were beaten before they were robbed.

Simon said New York police had contacted U.S. marshals for help in finding Moore before they came to Youngstown.
