GIRARD

A man who robbed a South State Street bank Saturday morning was caught on foot a short time later, police said.

Officers were called to the Charter One Bank at 35 S. State St. about 11:20 a.m. after a man came in and told an employee he wanted all the $100 and $50 bills, reports said.

The employee told police she thought the man was kidding but he told her he had a gun and showed her a weapon, reports said.

The employee said she hit the alarm button and opened a drawer and gave the man several $50 bills. He took them and ran out the front door east on Wilson Avenue, reports said.

As officers were called, police got a report that the man fitting the description of the robber was at the nearby Jib Jab Hot Dog Shoppe asking about bus schedules, reports said.

Reports said the man ran away from there, also on foot. Officers from several different departments, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Liberty and Youngstown as well as U.S. Marshals were looking for the man, and he was caught on Interstate 80 and arrested.

Police identified the man as Robert T. Naples, 42, of Poplar Street in Youngstown. He was being questioned by police before being taken to the Trumbull County Jail.
