Deputy cited

WARREN

Maj. Harold Firster with the Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office was cited by the Ohio State Highway Patrol with failure to yield the right of way on a left turn. The charge is a result of the crash that occurred while he was involved in a police chase earlier this month.

A chase began near Howland High School at 7:48 a.m. April 9 after a woman in a Saturn failed to pull over after an officer suspected she was driving with fictitious license plates. The chase continued into Warren, then Champion and then onto U.S. Route 422 in Warren Township, where Firster attempted to turn around at the Anderson-Anthony Road intersection and collided with a tractor-trailer.

Firster suffered a minor injury. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured. The fleeing driver got away.
