POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

April 12

Theft: A Polo Boulevard man reported a full 5-gallon gas can stolen from his residence.

April 13

Theft: Six bags of diapers were stolen from Giant Eagle, 3130 Center Road.

Complaint: Police received a report of a dog continually barking in the 7600 block of Elmland Avenue.

April 14

Identity fraud: A Hilltop Drive man discovered his name and Social Security number had been used to fraudulently file a 2013 income-tax return.

BOARDMAN

April 18

Theft: Takeya A. Hudson, 24, of West LaClede Avenue, Youngstown, faced charges of theft and obstructing official business after $136 worth of property was stolen from J.C. Penney in Southern Park Mall. Hudson also repeatedly provided a false name during the booking process, authorities said.

Theft: Two 17-year-old township girls were charged with stealing a USB device, body wash and other items from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A 15-year-old Boardman boy was charged after an $89 pair of tennis shoes was stolen from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. The teen was released to the custody of his father.

Assault: An employee with a township movie theater told officers a boy pushed the accuser by the arm and threatened to shoot him after the worker had asked him and three other teens to leave.

Theft: An employee for a Market Street bank reported her purse stolen while at work.

Criminal damaging: A Lowellville woman told police that while pulling into a parking space in the 1300 block of Doral Drive, a man next to her intentionally slammed his driver’s-side door into hers.

Theft: An Appleridge Circle woman noticed a $110 concrete statue had been removed from her front yard.

Arrest: A vehicle-registration check on Market Street led to the arrest of 53-year-old Christine M. Texter of Gladstone Avenue, Campbell. Texter was accused of failing to appear in court on a probation-violation charge.

Theft: Robert J. Martinez, 19, of Leesport, Pa., was charged in the theft of $24 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Theft/drugs: Police charged 20-year-old Sharayshia M. Jones with theft and drug abuse after $578 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart. Jones, of Almyra Avenue, Youngstown, also had in her purse 13 Tramadol tablets, commonly used to treat moderate to severe pain, authorities said.

Theft: Police charged 46-year-old Alvin P. Traylor III of Detroit Avenue, Youngstown, in the theft of two cellphones from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Police charged 71-year-old Betty J. Seeger with theft after alleging Seeger, of Yerian Road, North Lima, had stolen $26 worth of merchandise, including nail polish and nail-polish remover, from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

April 19

Theft: David A. Croach, 27, of Kings-wood Road, New Castle, Pa., and David C. Lynch, 26, of Clover Lane, New Castle, faced charges of theft and complicity to theft, respectively, after two sets of building blocks were stolen from Walmart. The price tags also had been altered, a report showed.

Aggravated menacing: A Market Street woman alleged her boyfriend’s jealous cousin threatened to hit her with a baseball bat and have someone beat her up.

Theft: A Struthers woman noticed her car keys missing while at a residence in the 200 block of Mathews Road.

Theft: Three women and a man stole four air fresheners and two USB chargers from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.

Assault: A woman and her boyfriend at a South Avenue motel each reported having been assaulted by the other during an altercation.

Burglary: Took place at a home in the 5000 block of Lockwood Boulevard, where $3,900 worth of jewelry was missing.

Theft: A woman realized her wallet was missing from a shopping cart as she patronized a Doral Drive big-box store.

Theft: A woman discovered her wallet had been stolen from her car at a business in the 200 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Arrest: Lela L. Williams of West Evergreen Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and disorderly conduct after police pulled her over near Lockwood Boulevard. The 54-year-old Williams also was combative and belligerent, authorities said.

Illegal dumping: A woman who had been evicted and was staying with a family member on Hopkins Road told officers her former landlord dumped trash and her belongings in the family member’s front yard.

Theft: Three people left Denny’s Restaurant, 154 Boardman-Canfield Road, without paying their $23.66 food bill.

Assault: A Shields Road woman reported two other women came to the accuser’s door and punched her several times. The victim suffered a bloody nose and had one eye swollen shut, police said.

Theft: A $500 tuba was stolen from a rear parking lot at Gordon’s Music, 6940 Market St.

Theft: A man in his 20s stole an unknown number of bottles of tire cleaner from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.

Theft: Tiara M. Berger, 21, of Tod Lane, Youngstown, was charged after $252 worth of items, including a sweat shirt, was stolen from Sears in Southern Park Mall.

April 20

Citation: A traffic stop on Market Street resulted in a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 52-year-old Cedric L. Jackson of West Boston Avenue, Youngstown, with having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

Stolen property: Authorities booked via phone 25-year-old Kristen M. Sinkovich of Brandon Avenue, Boardman, who was in the Mahoning County jail and was wanted on a felony warrant charging receiving stolen property. She was accused of cashing a stolen $317.61 check last September at an area bank.

Burglary: To a residence in the 4200 block of Hopkins Road through a rear door. Among items stolen were a $1,500 computer, a 32-inch flat-screen TV and assorted jewelry.

Theft: Two people took about $10 worth of merchandise from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave., and fled.

April 21

Menacing: A Yarmouth Lane woman alleged her attorney has been stalking her in part by coming to her residence unannounced and uninvited.

Theft: Nicole E. Bolen, 38, was charged. Bolen, of Southern Boulevard, Youngstown, was accused in the theft of two beauty products from Walmart.

Bad check: Authorities booked Ronald A. Scurti of South Osborn Avenue, Youngstown, on one misdemeanor count of passing a bad check. The 48-year-old Scurti was accused of buying a camera in January at YM Camera, 755 Boardman-Canfield Road, with a $353 check drawn on a closed account.

Theft/forgery: Someone cashed three business checks for $2,500 that had been stolen from All Demolition Co., 1195 E. Western Reserve Road.

Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown girl was charged with theft and obstructing official business after $177 worth of property, including a pair of shorts, was stolen from the J.C. Penney store. The teen also had fled from loss-prevention officials, a police report said.

Harassment: A South Avenue woman said a caller has been claiming that she hit his car and needs to speak with her in person. The call and others like it may originate from an Internet site, a police report stated.

Vandalism: A door handle was broken, and graffiti was found on a piece of playground equipment at Market Street Elementary School, 5555 Market St.

Identity fraud: An Island Drive woman told police the former residents of her home are using her address to harass her neighbors and that she’s receiving their mail. Also, the neighbor reported he’s being harassed in a manner that’s causing him to fear for his safety.

Theft: Two men age 20 to 25 stole a $36 kit from Vitamin World in Southern Park Mall.

Bad check: A woman wrote a $171 check to buy merchandise at Pat’s Uniforms, 6020 Market St., that was returned on a closed account.

Attempted breaking and entering: Someone damaged a garage door at Lake Park Tool & Machinery Inc., 1221 Velma Court, apparently in an effort to enter.

Theft: Deryck A. Plumadore, 33, was charged with theft, criminal damaging and public intoxication after $143 worth of merchandise was stolen from Walmart. Plumadore, of Lynn Avenue, Youngstown, also urinated on two flat-screen TV boxes, a report showed.

Identity theft: A Leighton Avenue man learned that his Social Security number was used without consent to file for a joint income-tax refund in Maryland.

Menacing: A worker for a Southern Park Mall clothing store told police a co-worker has threatened her and other employees regarding work hours and promotion opportunities. A district manager alleged the co-worker, who evidently was passed over for a management position, had told others that he planned to strike her in the stomach and terminate her pregnancy, a report said.

Theft: Daron N. Little, 47, of Madison Street, Campbell, was charged in a Dec. 24, 2013, shoplifting situation at Walmart in which a flat-screen TV and a children’s toy were taken.
