M&Ms, Crunch bars and a crack pipe lead to arrest


BOARDMAN — A 46-year-old Youngstown man was arrested by Boardman police Wednesday after he purportedly stole candy from Family Dollar and resisted arrested.

Alvin Traylor III of Detroit Avenue is charged with theft, resisting arrest, obstructing official business and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

At 6:45 p.m. Boardman police responded to Family Dollar on South Avenue for a male shoplifter. The shoplifter, accused of stealing a box of 42 M&M bags

valued at $28.05 and a box of 11 Crunch bars valued at $28.05, fled the store.

When police tried to stop Traylor he ran, according to a police report.

Police yelled at him three times before he complied. Police found the M&Ms in Traylor's shirt. He was verbally combative with police and would not stand still, according to the report. Eventually, police were able to get him in a police car.

He provided police the rest of the candy he was accused of taking and police

also found a crack pipe on him.

He was taken to the St. Elizabeth Health Center for an injury. He is to appear in court at 5:30 p.m. today.
