Mahoning County residents who are eligible for Ohio’s expanded Medicaid program can sign up from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Midlothian Free Clinic, 388 E. Midlothian Blvd., after calling Access Health Mahoning Valley at 330-373-0703 for an appointment and income guidelines.
Walk-ins will be scheduled for appointments at a later date if time does not permit enrollment today.
People who are eligible for Medicaid are age 18 to 64 and do not have health care.
Drug drop-off

The village police department is hosting “Drug Take Back Day” from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at the Municipal Building, 10711 Main St.
Anyone can drop off unwanted, unused or expired drugs in order to have them properly disposed. Also, improper disposal of the drugs by either throwing them in the garbage or flushing them down the toilet has the potential to put harmful contaminants in water systems and soil.

Miss Ohio will make an appearance at Jimmy’s Italian Specialties, 3230 Belmont Ave.
Madison Gesiotto, Miss Ohio/USA, will meet fans there from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Howland house fire
HOWLAND
A house fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes Tuesday night in Howland.
One occupant of 1025 Westover Drive SE was taken to Trumbull Memorial Hospital for smoke inhalation. No firefighters were injured.
Fire officials said they received a call about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday for a house fire. Crews were on the scene by 9:17 p.m. and had the fire under control by 9:29 p.m. Crews from Weathersfield, Cortland and Bazetta as well as Howland responded to the call.
Weight Loss 101
YOUNGSTOWN
The YWCA of Youngs-town, 25 W. Rayen Ave., is offering a program, “If Scales Could Speak! Weight Loss 101,” a health fair for women, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. April is Minority Health Month in Ohio.
The health fair includes a yoga session and information about fad diets and weight loss, weight loss and its relationship with diseases, nutrition and healthful meal preparation, free chair massages, educational handouts, giveaways, door prizes and food sampling.
The event, free and open to the public, is funded by the Ohio Commission on Minority Health. Call 330-746-6361 for information.
Robbery reported
AUSTINTOWN
Cash and prescription medication were taken from an apartment late Monday.
A Kirk Road resident told police she forgot to lock her apartment at 9 p.m. Monday and returned an hour later to find her purse missing.
She told police $600, along with a pre-paid debit card with $20, were in her purse. Also in her purse were prescriptions for an antidepressant and Vicodin. There were no signs of forced entry.
