Aqua Ohio Inc. will invest nearly $30 million in infrastructure during this construction season, up from $19 million in 2012 and $22 million in 2013.
A company news release also detailed how this year’s infrastructure-improvement program reinforces the company’s commitment to replacing aging water and wastewater systems throughout the state and noted that providing safe, reliable service to its roughly 500,000 customers in 16 counties remains its focus.
Approximately $2 million will be spent throughout Aqua’s Struthers/Masury operating divisions, which includes Struthers; the villages of Poland, Lowellville and New Middletown; the townships of Beaver, Boardman, Canfield, Coitsville, Poland and Springfield in Mahoning County; and the townships of Brookfield and Hubbard in Trumbull County.
Aqua — which is Ohio’s largest investor-owned drinking-water and wastewater utility — also will spend $6.9 million throughout its Lakeshore/Ashtabula operating divisions; $6.4 million in its Stark operating division; $6.3 million in its Marion/Tiffin operating divisions; and $5.4 million in its Franklin operating division.
