Body recovered
NEW CASTLE, PA.
Searchers recovered the body of a Lawrence County woman reported missing after the boat she was in capsized.
After searching late Tuesday and early Wednesday, authorities recovered the body of 26-year-old Nancy E. List of New Castle, at about 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, according to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV.
List was fishing in a small aluminum boat in a private pond in Scott Township with her husband Michael W. List when the vessel capsized.
Michael List said he saw his wife hanging on to the boat trying to swim to shore when she went under water. He said after searching for his wife without success, he went to a nearby residence to call for help.
Pennsylvania State Police responded with personnel and a helicopter along with local fire departments and emergency divers. The crews searched until poor conditions caused them to call off the search around 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Crews resumed the search after daybreak when visibility improved.
