Damascus Elementary garners top recycling award

BELOIT — The American Forest and Paper Association has chosen Damascus Elementary School, part of the West Branch School District, to receive the 2014 AF&PA Recycling Award.

The AF&PA judged the program based on the volume of paper collected, the school’s creativity in raising recycling awareness, participation in the program from the staff and students and partnership with the community to achieve their goal.

The AF&PA will present the award in May. The school will receive a cash award, along with an original piece of framed artwork and will be recognized on the AF&PA website to help promote the importance of recycling and show other schools new ways to recycle.
