The YWCA of Youngstown, 25. W. Rayen Ave., is offering “If Scales Could Speak! Weight Loss 101,” a health fair for women, from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. April is Minority Health Month in Ohio.
The heath fair includes a yoga session and information about fad diets and weight loss and its relationship with diseases, nutrition, and healthy meal preparation; free chair massages; educational hand-outs; giveaways; door prizes and healthy food sampling.

The courses are CPR/AED (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Course), Adult/Child/Infant (2 year certificate), 8:30 a.m. to noon May 15, fee, $40.

Colorectal cancer presentation

Humility of Mary Health Partners is offering a free dinner presentation about colorectal cancer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 29 at The Fifth Season Restaurant, 1400 Niles-Canfield Road.
Dr. Jawad Francis, medical oncologist, and Dr. Marie Awad-Alexander, general surgeon, will discuss risk factors, signs and symptoms of the disease and ways to reduce the risk of developing colorectal cancers, the third-leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States for men and women.

Alzheimer seminar offers advice

The Alzheimer Network is offering a seminar on legal and financial issues regarding the long-term care associated with Alzheimer’s disease from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the conference room of the Girard Free Library, 105 E. Prospect St.
The presenter is Atty. Elliot Legow, a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Handouts will be provided. There is no charge for the session, but reservations are required. Call 330-788-9755.
Hospital recognized
CLEVELAND
The Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center has received the Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure Gold-Plus Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures outlined by the American Heart Association/American College of Cardiology Foundation secondary prevention guidelines for heart failure patients.
Get With The Guidelines-Heart Failure is a quality-improvement program that helps hospital teams provide the most up-to-date, research-based guidelines with the goal of speeding recovery and reducing hospital readmissions for heart- failure patients.
The Cleveland VAMC also received the association’s Target: Heart Failure Honor Roll. Target: Heart Failure is an initiative that provides hospitals with educational tools, prevention programs and treatment guidelines developed to reduce the risk of heart failure patients ending up back in the hospital
Cleveland VAMC provides inpatient and outpatient health care services at its Wade Park facility and 13 community-based outpatient clinics in Northeast Ohio.
