Two jailed after fight at Boardman apartment

Boardman police arrested two men Saturday on multiple charges including felonious assault after the two had a fight.

Frank Hosey, 33, of McGuffey Road in Youngstown is charged with felonious assault, burglary and obstructing official business.

Joseph DiGiacomo, 26, of Shields Road in Boardman is charged with felonious assault, tampering with evidence, obstructing official business and resisting arrest.

At at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, police were we to an apartment building at 65 Shields Road on the report of a multiple-person fight.

Hosey told police they had the wrong apartment complex when asked him about the fight, according to a police report.

Police heard a female yelling at someone to stay inside because the cops were there.

Officers recognized the female and knew she was living with DiGiacomo because they had responded to their residence numerous times for disturbance calls.

When DiGiacomo came out of the complex, officers noticed he was sweating and breathing heavily and had a scratch on his face. He told police he was jumped for no reason and that he stabbed someone during the altercation.

A 20-year-old male inside the complex told police he was stabbed by DiGiacomo in the arm. As police were talking to the man, they heard a fight taking place outside between Hosey and DiGiacomo. DiGacomo was hit in the head by Hosey with a cane, a report said.

Police broke up the fight, Hosey was placed in handcuffs and DiGiacomo had to be chased down. He attempted to fight a police officer and tackle him, but was detained by police. Multiple ambulances were called to the apartment complex.

Police discovered the fight between DiGiacomo and Hosey originally started at a party.

The renter of the apartment where the fight originally took place told Hosey to leave, but Hosey came back and forced open the the door to the apartment, the report stated. Then, DiGiacomo retrieved a work knife and scissors.

The man stabbed was Hosey’s friend, according to the police report.

Hosey also sustained a minor stab wound.

Hosey and DiGiacomo are in the Mahoning County jail.
