Ribbon cutting for wildlife sanctuary observation deck

BEAVER TOWNSHIP

In an Earth Day observance, Mill Creek MetroParks officials will cut the ribbon at the new three-tiered observation platform at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Mill Creek Wildlife Sanctuary at 2650 W. Calla Road. The sanctuary is a 264-acre former fish farm the park system acquired with grant monies. An active bald eagle’s nest and a wide variety of birds, including songbirds, woodpeckers, waterfowl and shorebirds can be seen from the platform. The platform was funded by Wild Birds Unlimited, the Audubon Society of the Mahoning Valley, the Mill Creek MetroParks Foundation and Nancy Brundage, MetroParks volunteer.
