Former McDonald teacher pleads to child porn

Alan Stanley, 49, of McKinley Boulevard in McDonald, a former McDonald High School teacher and varsity baseball coach, has pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge and will be sentenced later.

Stanley, who resigned from the school district in October 2012, appeared before Judge Peter Kontos in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to plead guilty to two counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented matter or performance.

Prosecutors said Stanley engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a student at McDonald High School in 2012 while he was a teacher there.

He and the student texted back and forth comments containing sexual innuendos, and the girl eventually sent him naked images of herself.

The McDonald Board of Education accepted his resignation after learning that the McDonald Police Department, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and other agencies were investigating Stanley.

Stanley had worked for the district for four years and taught high school chemistry and advanced chemistry.

“We have found so far that he was sending text messages to students, some of which contain sexual innuendoes ... [and] making arrangements for locations they could meet, such as his residence,” Lt Bill Woodley of the McDonald Police Department said in 2012.
