Crisis Shelter hosts Party in the Park on Saturday

NEW CASTLE, PA.
The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County will host a “Party in the Park for Justice” from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
The celebration aims to increase public awareness of the rights and services available to people who have been victimized by crime, according to a crisis-shelter press release.
Riverwalk Park, at East Washington and East streets, will be the location for face-painting, giveaways, crime-scene cleanup, a bouncy castle, cornhole games and hula-hoop contests.
The Walk for Justice with the New Castle High School state basketball championship team will begin at the YMCA, 20 W. Washington St., and end at the park from 2:15 to 2:45 p.m.
The Party in the Park also will feature Tinkerbell, also known as Carol Weakland, telling the story of Peter Pan from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. at Zambelli Park, Mill and East Washington streets. Weakland is an actress, author and storyteller.
The crisis shelter also is participating in other New Castle events Saturday. Guests to the Party in the Park also are encouraged to visit the New Castle YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, which includes active games and demonstrations for kids, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as well as an Earth Day Celebration with music, an art show, storytelling and children’s activities, from 2 to 6 p.m. at Washington Centre, 8 N. Mill St.
