Male chorus

CAMPBELL

The male chorus of Shiloh Baptist Church, 238 Bright Ave., will host the annual men’s musical at 3 p.m. April 27.

Included among the local male choirs and singers will be the Community Church of God in Christ Male Chorus of Warren.

Michael Griffin is choir president and the Rev. Ricky Tigner, pastor.

Scout awards

YOUNGSTOWN

About 50 Scouts and Scouters will receive Catholic religious awards on April 26 from Bishop George V. Murry at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St.

Bishop Murry will celebrate Mass at 10 a.m. with the presentation of awards immediately after the service. Girl and Boy Scouts of all ages will be in attendance. Adult leaders will be recipients of their respective religious awards as well.

A light refreshment reception will follow in the parish hall.

Special Mass

YOUNGSTOWN

Next weekend, Pope Francis will canonize Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II as saints.

A Mass of Thanksgiving celebrating the new saints will be at 2 p.m. April 27 at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St.

Bishop George V. Murry will be principal celebrant with the priests of the Diocese of Youngstown. Polish Youngstown will assist.

For families

CHAMPION

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a “Strengthening Families Night” at 6:30 p.m. April 27 at the Warren Chapel, 1321 State Road.

The event is open to all. A nursery will be provided. The event will emphasize God’s role in strengthening individuals and families.

Timothy Headrick, patriarch and father of 11 children, will speak about how the Gospel of Jesus can strengthen families to deal with today’s issues.

Raul Kemp, a local educator, father and church youth leader, will share how he has seen the Gospel of Jesus change his life and the lives of others. He is also former bishop of the Warren congregation.

Laurie Busch, a middle school teacher, church youth leader and mother, will address how the knowledge of God’s plan of salvation affects our perspective of our families.

Coordinators are elders Taylor Carr and Nathan May.

Second Chance

CORNERSBURG

Contemporary Christian recording artist Mitch McVicker will share his music Tuesday at Second Chance Ministry, 3415 Canfield Road.

McVicker received a Gospel Music Association Dove “1999 Song of the Year” Award for “My Deliverer,” which he co-wrote with the late Rich Mullins. Mullins penned several popular Christian worship songs including “Awesome God.”

McVicker ministers as well as entertains during his concerts. Jenah Shank and Mark Mecozzi also will perform.

Admission is free. An offering will be collected.

Conference set

Biblical Counseling Institute will sponsor the 25th annual conference, “Celebrating the Sufficiency of Scripture,” May 3 in Mayfield Heights.

Workshops will address how the Bible gives help for common problems. Lunch is included.
