Four local players in North-South games

Four area high school senior basketball players and a retiring coach will participate in the North-South All-Star games on April 27 ar Ohio Dominican University.

Pat Pavlansky, Canfield’s girls basketball coach who won 319 games in 19 seasons, will be on the the coaches for the Girls Division I-II North team. Elyria’s Mike Walsh will be the other coach.

One of their players is Austintown Fitch’s Megan Sefcik, who has a scholarship to play for the University of Akron. Sefcik was a four-year varsity starter, the All-American Conference’s Player of the Year, she was voted to first team All-Northeast Ohio and third team All-Ohio honors and was The Vindicator’s girls basketball athlete of the year after making 89 percent of her free throws and 53 percent of her shots.

The girls Division I-II game will be played at 1:45 p.m.

The 5-foot-9 guard averaged just shy of 20 points per game and 6.3 rebounds.

LaBrae’s Peyton Aldridge will play on the North team in the Division III-IV game at 3:45 p.m. The Vikings’ 6-8 player has a scholarship to play for Davidson College. After averaging 21.4 points, he was the Associated Press Northeast Inland Player of the Year and receiver first team All-Ohio honors.

Canfield’s Jarret Vrabel will play for the North in the Division I-II game at 5:30 p.m. Vrabel received special mention All-Ohio and first team All-Northeast Ohio honors.

Lordstown’s Sarah Cash will play for the North team in the Division III-IV girls game at noon. Cash received third-team All-Ohio honors and received a Curbstone Coaches scholarship.
