'Tubby' accused of taking wallet and contents

City police are investigating a report of theft in the 100 block of Chambers Street.

At about 12:11 a.m. Wednesday, the homeowner called police, saying she just noticed that her brown wallet --containing her Social Security card, debit card, driver's license and $41 in cash -- was missing from her purse, which had been in the living room of her residence.

She added that a man who goes by the name of "Tubby" had stopped over several times during the day on Tuesday; she believes that Tubby took her wallet when she went to get a glass of water from the kitchen.

The homeowner didn't know the man's real name, but said she thinks he is homeless and staying somewhere in the projects.

The investigation is ongoing.
