WARREN

Jason Burns, 33, of Aquadale Drive in Boardman, pleaded not guilty Monday morning in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court to two felony drug charges and one misdemeanor. Judge Peter Kontos set bond at $3,500.

Burns was working as a paralegal assistant to Warren Law Director Greg Hicks on Dec. 23 when Warren police were called to the law department because Burns, who has a law degree, reportedly was acting strangely. Police reported finding illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia in his possession and took him to the hospital.

He was arraigned through Warren Municipal Court on the charge in February. He has since resigned from the job. He was booked and fingerprinted after his arraignment Monday.

Man faces drug charge

BOARDMAN

A township man was to be arraigned at 9 a.m. today in Mahoning County Area Court here on drug trafficking and other charges.

Boardman police arrested Vincent Sherman, 20, for purportedly selling drugs out of his Southern Boulevard apartment complex. Police served him with a search warrant Monday.

Sherman is in the county jail on charges of trafficking in drugs in a school zone (a felony), tampering with evidence, possession of drugs, possession of crack cocaine, possessing drug- abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

Police said Sherman’s apartment on Southern Boulevard abuts Market Street Elementary School. Trafficking in a school zone boosts the offense to a felony. Police found less than 1 gram of crack cocaine, and less than 5 grams of heroin.

They confiscated more than $21,000, a .45-caliber pistol, a .22-caliber pistol and a 12-gauge shotgun.

Man reports robbery

WARREN

A 54-year-old Third Street Southwest man reported that a longtime acquaintance stole $250 from him at gunpoint at 12:25 a.m. Saturday.

The victim said the acquaintance arrived and asked to use the bathroom. When the acquaintance left the bathroom, he pointed a handgun at him and took $250 in cash and a bottle of 110 oxycodone pills.

Police went to the address where the victim said the suspect lived, but he was not there.

Volunteers needed

Man, 43, arrested

NEW CASTLE, PA.

Police arrested a 43-year-old man on charges of robbery, burglary, a firearms violation, criminal trespassing and possessing instruments of crime.

Richard Javens was released from Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh after receiving treatment for a gunshot wound and then arrested on a warrant Saturday.

Javens, of New Castle, is accused of a home invasion on Hillsville-Bessemer Road in North Beaver Township on March 28. He is in Lawrence County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Also accused in the robbery is Ronald Eugene Clark II, 41, of New Castle. He was arrested in Tempe, Ariz., on April 3. He will be transported back to Pennsylvania, where he will face similar charges.
