Farmers National Bank of Canfield has filed a lawsuit in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court against McClurkin Funeral Home of State Street, Girard, seeking payment of $274,044 in delinquent loans.
The suit names as defendants the funeral home; Robert J. McClurkin, Karen M. McClurkin, both of South State Street; and Patrick J. McClurkin and Tamara T. McClurkin, both of Abbey Street, Girard.
The suit says the McClurkins took out loans of $425,000 in May 2007. It doesn’t say when the loans became delinquent.
The Ohio Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors suspended the licenses of the funeral home and of funeral directors Robert J. McClurkin and Patrick J. McClurkin earlier this month, saying the funeral home stole more than $400,000 from consumers through improper use of funds for prepaid funerals.
