Neighbors | Submitted .The Canfield Soccer Club consists of five girls and four boys teams ages 8 to 14.

More than 110 Canfield boys and girls have been practicing since July in anticipation of the fall competitive season.

Every weekend in September and October these players either travel to community fields or play at home at the Township Park fields on Herbert road.

The competitive soccer program has been in existence for almost 20 years and this year boasts five girls and four boys teams ages 8-14.

“This program takes an extreme amount of commitment from the players, parents and the volunteer coaches,” said Brian Governor, league president.

In addition to the 10 regular season games, each team participates in a community tournament put on by the Youngstown Area Youth Soccer League and many travel to statewide tournaments. Many of these players play year round and will start indoor leagues as soon as the weather changes.

“These players are the future of the Canfield High School program and they are excited about it,” said Governor.
