Two men shot near East Side Lincoln Park

Two men were injured in what police believe was a drive-by shooting in the Council Rock Avenue area on the city’s southeast side near Lincoln Park.
The men were dropped off at St. Elizabeth Health Center shortly after the 3 p.m. shooting, but the driver sped away, police said. One of the victims is in critical condition; the other in stable condition.
Police are looking for a black Honda, possibly with numerous bullet holes in it, police said. The victims’ names were not being released as of 6 p.m.
Charges set in theft of cable television

Charges are planned against a 42-year-old man accused of running a wire from a neighbor’s house to his to steal cable television.
A man called police at 6:39 p.m. Saturday when he found the wire running from his father’s house on Manchester Avenue to a neighbor’s house and the rear door of his father’s house broken open.
Police disconnected the wire, then were advised by the man receiving the cable that he had permission from the homeowner to tap into the line.
The homeowner’s son said his father had been gone throughout the day and didn’t give permission. He said a 40-inch television, desktop computer with monitor, router, two neon signs and a watch were missing from the house.
The two signs were found in the rear yard of the house where the man getting the cable was living and returned to the owner.
Domestic-violence case

A 21-year-old Belmont Avenue man has been charged with domestic violence, accused of being the primary aggressor despite having suffered numerous lacerations in a fight with his brother at 4:50 p.m. Saturday.
T’Andre Jackson suffered serious lacerations to his chest, head and bicep and was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he was in stable condition.
Witnesses said the brothers, who both live at the Belmont Avenue residence, were fighting over a female.
South Side shooting

A 32-year-old Youngstown man suffered a gunshot wound to the thumb at 8:48 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of East Dewey Avenue.
The man said two men came in the house, then they went back outside with the victim. One of the visitors asked the victim if he wanted to buy a gun and showed it to him.. Then the second man put on a blue ski mask, pulled a gun and demanded to have “all your [valuables].”
The victim said he grabbed the man’s arm and pulled him down the steps in front of the house. The other man fired at him once, hitting him. The victim then ran in the house, locked the door and called 911.
Document destruction

The Creative Learning Workshop on Elm Road Northeast is hosting a document destruction day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 17.
Residents can safely destroy up to five pounds of material including papers, CDs or credit cards for free. There will be a charge of 20 cents per pound in excess of five pounds with no limit on the amount of material being destroyed. Cash will be the only payment method accepted.
