EEOC to visit NAACP

YOUNGSTOWN

The U.S. Equal Employ- ment Opportunity Commission’s mobile-outreach center will visit the Youngstown unit of the NAACP from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday to accept complaints of employment discrimination based on race, religion, sex, national origin, age (40 and older), disability or retaliation.

The EEOC considers retaliation the firing of a worker who complained about job discrimination, gave evidence in a job- discrimination matter or filed a charge of job discrimination with the commission.

The unit prefers appointments, but walk-ins are welcome.

The local unit of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is at 16 Wick Ave., Suite 721, in the old PNC Bank Building, downtown. Call the local office at 330-782-9777, or email naacpyoungstown@yahoo.com.

Nature Art Show

Nature artists will display and sell their work during the 11th annual Nature Art Show from Friday through Sunday at McKeever Environmental Learning Center, 55 McKeever Lane. Art show hours will be 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Julie Harris will provide live entertainment from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. Food and beverages will be served throughout the weekend events. The event is free.

Garden fundraiser

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown Inner City Garden will have a spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Phoenix House, 850 N. Meridian Road.

The funds raised will be used to build a community garden and an orchard that can easily be tended by the elderly and disabled.

Tickets are $8 for the general public; $5 for veterans, senior citizens, the disabled and children 11 and under.

One dollar of every dinner ticket sold will go to Wounded Warriors Fund. There will be a 50/50 raffle and bucket auction. Carryouts are available after 1 p.m. Call 330-406-6603.
