A reception took place Thursday to welcome Jason Gray as new superintendent of the Trumbull Career and Technical Center. Gray, former TCTC principal, succeeds Wayne McClain.

“Career and Technical Education at the Secondary and Adult levels have come to the forefront in an effort to meet the current needs and future demands of the economy,” Gray said during the reception. “This can only be done by collaborating and partnering with business and Industry.”

Gray said it is the vision of TCTC “that our all of our students leave with recognized, portable credentials and comprehensive career planning — that our programs will continue to reflect the modern technological workplace and incorporate rigorous academics and technical standards as well as 21st century workplace skills.”

He noted that several years ago, working with the dual enrollment staff at Youngstown State Univer- sity, he was able to bring dual-enrollment courses in math and English to TCTC.

“These courses enable students to earn not only high school graduation credit but also transferable college credit. Our goal is to add more of these opportunities,” he said.

Gray is a Champion native who graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in 1992. He taught in Long Island, New York, and then at Lordstown High School six years, before joining TCTC in 2002.
