STRUTHERS

A Boardman man arrested Wednesday faces charges of rape, gross sexual imposition and domestic violence associated with the assault of a 13-year-old Struthers girl.

The suspect, 35-year-old Quincy A. Henderson, reportedly began abusing the girl in March 2012, according to a police report.

Struthers police were notified of the offenses Tuesday afternoon after school officials contacted Mahoning County Children Services.

Henderson is in Mahoning County jail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Sept. 27, said Detective Jeff Lewis of the Struthers Police Department. Lewis added that Henderson “confessed to most” of the accusations while in police custody.

Henderson also faces an additional charge of domestic violence in connection with the 35-year-old woman living in the Struthers residence with the 13-year-old girl.

“There was big-time abuse going on in that house,” Lewis said, adding that Tuesday’s report was the first, though the abuse had begun more than a year ago. “They’re seriously afraid of him.”

Henderson’s record up to this point, Lewis added, contains “nothing major.”
