Widdersheim appeals sentence for role in son's brutal beating death

YOUNGSTOWN — The Struthers woman who was sentenced to 15 years in prison earlier this month for allowing her three sons to be abused by her ex-boyfriend, killing one of them, has appealed her sentence.

Shain Widdersheim filed a notice of appeal Thursday before the Seventh District of Appeals of the sentence she received from Judge R. Scott Krichbaum for allowing the death of her son Teddy Foltz, 14, who died in January from a beating he received from Zaryl Bush.

Bush received a 33 years to life sentence for abusing Widdersheim's twin sons and killing Foltz.

Both Bush and Widdersheim were sentenced above the recommended sentences in their plea bargains, but Krichbaum explained that he was allowed to exercise his discretion in handing down their sentences.
