Valley Marketplace plans Thursday ribbon-cutting ceremony


BOARDMAN — The Valley Marketplace, which recently opened at 6121 South Ave., in the former Pat Catan’s at the Matthews Square Shopping Center, will have a formal ribbon-cutting at 10:30 a.m. Thursday .

The marketplace boasts 30 vendors from the Amish community that sell homemade goods such as freshly baked bread, pies, cinnamon rolls, furniture, wicker products and other gifts.

Many of the products are made on-site, and the location also features an authentic Amish restaurant.

Customers also will be able to shop for a large, quality selection of foods, including fresh produce, a variety of salads, a candy store, homemade snacks, foods in bulk and even an ice-cream stand that sells homemade ice cream.

Grand-opening specials such as product discounts and sampling and free pony rides for children are planned throughout this week. They will conclude at 4 p.m. Saturday

Normal operating hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The marketplace is closed Sunday through Wednesday.
