WEATHERSFIELD

The Weathersfield Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who shot a 31-year-old Struthers man in the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant at the corner of Robbins Avenue and U.S. Route 422 in McKinley Heights on Saturday afternoon.

A surveillance video shows the suspect walking beside the restaurant.

The victim said he was sitting in his car eating french fries from the restaurant at 3:13 p.m. when a man got in the passenger side of his 1998 Ford Expedition and demanded money, saying, “I know you’ve got a lot of money,” said Weathersfield Police Chief Joe Consiglio.

The victim attempted to wrest the gun away from the suspect, and in the struggle, the victim was shot in the side. The bullet passed in and out of him and was found in the vehicle.

The victim drove himself to St. Elizabeth Health Center for his injuries but was released the same night.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call 330-652-6486 or 330-675-2730.
