YOUNGSTOWN — Careless smoking is the cause of a fatal fire Oct. 5 that killed 77-year-old Kathleen Pasco of Homewood Avenue, said fire investigator Capt. Alvin Ware.
Ware said today the fire has been ruled accidental.
Crews were called to Pasco's home in the 1600 block of Homewood Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. Oct. 5 and found Pasco inside but she could not be revived.
Her death is the second fire death in the city this year.
