YOUNGSTOWN
Avguste Antonov will be in Youngstown next week for a series of free concerts, presented by the New Music Society at Youngstown State University.
The Texas-based pianist will perform twice Wednesday: at 12:15 p.m. at the Butler Institute of American Art, and then at 8 p.m. in Bliss Recital Hall, which is in Bliss Hall, on the YSU campus.
Antonov will then give a concert at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Holy Apostles Church on Covington Avenue.
Although the concerts are free, an offering will be collected.

Antonov will also give a concert at Chaney High School Friday that is not open to the public.
Antonov specializes in recent music and has premiered works by such composers as Carter Pann, Raina Murnak, Matthew Lewis, Till Meyn, Matthew Saunders, Robert Rollin and Marc Parella.
He has been soloist with numerous symphonies and maintains an extensive performance schedule. Antonov teaches at The Master’s Touch School of Music and Performing Arts in Grapevine, Texas.
The New Music Society concerts will include Antonov’s performances of two works by composer Carter Pann, who now teaches at the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Antonov will also play two works by Dana Faculty member Robert Rollin, and pieces by two other local composers — Richard Zacharias and senior composition major Samantha Hogan, will be represented.
Works written by several Dana students will also be performed at the concerts.
