The investigation continues into what caused the Spice of India restaurant to catch fire, but the building is considered a total loss.
Chief George Brown of the Boardman Fire Department estimated the damage at $225,000.
The fire department arrived at the Market Street restaurant just after 4 a.m. Tuesday. The building was fully engulfed.
With help from the Beaver Township Fire Department, the fire was put out by 7 a.m.
The state fire marshal’s office is leading the investigation, Brown said.
Tzarnas Family Co. LLC, the owner of the property where Spice of India was located, is in a civil lawsuit with Rajendra Ingle and Spice of India Inc.
Tzarnas Family Co. LLC is the lawful owner of the property, and Spice of India Inc. possessed the property through a commercial lease agreement effective Aug. 16, 2011, and ending Aug. 16, 2015, according to the lawsuit.
The rental cost is $24,000 per year, payable in 12 installments of $2,000, according to the lawsuit.
Ingle is not the owner of Spice of India Inc., but was given possession of the business in late 2012, according to the lawsuit.
Tzarnas Family Co. LLC claims the defendants have not paid the rent for August and September, but have not vacated the premises.
A court hearing on the matter will be at 10:45 a.m. Oct. 21 in Boardman court.
