Boardman police arrest man on theft charge

BOARDMAN — Boardman police arrested a 25-year-old Youngstown man after department store security say they caught him stealing merchandise on Tuesday.

Joseph Demello of Bosil Avenue is charged with theft, possession of drug abuse instruments and possession of dangerous drugs.

Police were called to Kohl’s department store at 5:22 p.m. Tuesday.

Loss prevention told police Demello fled from them. Police caught Demello inside Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Surveillance video showed Demello pick out three Nike Dri-Fit T-shirts, valued at $28 each and conceal them.

While searching Demello, police found a used syringe, and one Roxicodone pill.

Demello will appear in court at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 3.
