Two people arrested Sunday at an injection-well protest on North Main Street in Weathersfield Township were arraigned Monday in Niles Municipal Court.

They are John D. Williams, 57, of North Cleveland Avenue in Niles and Mary C. Khumprakob, 61, of Glacier Heights Road in Youngstown.

They were arrested at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the entrance to an injection-well site run by American Water Management of Howland just north of the North Road-Main Street intersection.

Weathersfield Township Police Chief Joe Consiglio said they were charged with trespassing for blocking tanker trucks from getting into the facility.

Trespassing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days in jail and up to a $250 fine if convicted.

They were both taken to the Trumbull County Jail on Sunday but were released after posting $2,500 bond.

In a news release, the group said it conducted a nonviolent protest of about 50 people from Ohio and Pennyslvania.
