YOUNGSTOWN

Los Gallos Authentic Mexican Restaurant and Sports Cantina opened its newest location in downtown Youngstown while closing its Struthers business for remodeling.

The Youngstown business is at 120 E. Boardman St. in the Plaza Parking Deck in the space that used to house Cafe Cimmento, which closed in April.

The restaurant will be open Mondays through Saturdays, though if there are events at the nearby Covelli Centre, the city-owned sports-and-entertainment facility, on Sundays, Los Gallos will be open on those days said Israel Zambrano, Los Gallos’ owner.

In addition, Los Gallos has closed its location at 162 S. Bridge St. in Struthers for remodeling, he said. It closed Friday and should reopen in about two weeks, he said.

Instead of a full restaurant, Zambrano said the Struthers location will feature a full bar, but a limited menu.

Meanwhile, The Vindicator and Los Gallos are still working on a settlement of the newspaper’s lawsuit for a $21,377 unpaid advertising bill, a court spokeswoman said. Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court issued a judgment against the restaurant for that amount in May.

Court records show a writ of execution against the Boardman restaurant has expired. The writ would have allowed the county sheriff’s office to padlock the restaurant and seize its contents to satisfy the debt.
